Speaking in the dugout of the Great American Ballpark in Cincinnati, Ohio, Kapler mentioned, "I don't plan on popping out for the anthem going ahead till I feel higher concerning the path of our nation."

In a weblog post, Kapler questioned whether the nation's leadership is committed to representing its people's greatest interests and whether america is truly "the land of the free and the house of the courageous."

"We weren't given bravery, and we aren't free. The police on the scene put a mother in handcuffs as she begged them to go in and save her children. They blocked dad and mom trying to organize to charge in to cease the shooter, together with a father who learned his daughter was murdered while he argued with the cops. We aren't free when politicians decide that the lobbyist and gun industries are extra important than our youngsters's freedom to go to highschool without having bulletproof backpacks and energetic shooter drills," Kapler wrote.

Later, Kapler wrote about his disillusionment with what he called "the dearth of delivery of the promise of what our national anthem represents."

"I'm not okay with the state of this nation. I want I hadn't let my discomfort compromise my integrity. I want that I could have demonstrated what I discovered from my dad, that if you're dissatisfied with your nation, you let or not it's recognized by way of protest. The house of the courageous ought to encourage this."

Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr made an impassioned plea to take stronger action towards gun violence in the USA.

Kerr refused to speak about basketball ahead of Game 4 of the Warriors' sequence in opposition to the Dallas Mavericks, instead elevating his voice as he railed against gun violence within the wake of Tuesday's capturing.

"Within the last 10 days, we have had aged Black folks killed in a grocery store in Buffalo, we have had Asian churchgoers killed in Southern California, now now we have kids murdered at college," Kerr instructed reporters at the start of the press conference.

"When are we going to do something? I'm tired. I'm so bored with getting up right here and offering condolences to the devastated families which might be on the market ... I am bored with the moments of silence. Enough."
