Speaking within the dugout of the Great American Ballpark in Cincinnati, Ohio, Kapler stated, "I don't plan on coming out for the anthem going ahead until I feel higher concerning the direction of our country."

I want that I could have demonstrated what I discovered from my dad, that when you're dissatisfied with your country, you let or not it's recognized by means of protest. The house of the brave should encourage this."
