Taliban leader orders girls to wear all-covering burqa in public: Decree

Afghanistan’s supreme chief and Taliban chief on Saturday ordered the country’s ladies to wear the all-covering burqa in public - one of many harshest controls imposed on girls’s lives since the Taliban seized power.

“They need to put on a chadori (head-to-toe burqa) as it's conventional and respectful,” stated a decree issued by Hibatullah Akhundzada that was launched by Taliban authorities at a operate in Kabul.

“These ladies who are usually not too previous or young should cover their face, besides the eyes, as per sharia directives, as a way to keep away from provocation when assembly males who usually are not mahram (grownup shut male family members),” the decree said.

It added that if ladies had no necessary work exterior it was “better they keep at house.”

During their first regime between 1996 and 2001, the Taliban imposed comparable restrictions on ladies.
