SACRAMENTO, Calif. >> A suspect on the run since a mass taking pictures left six individuals useless during an alleged gang dispute in California’s capital metropolis last month has been arrested in Las Vegas, authorities stated.
Investigators believe Mtula Payton was one of the alleged gang members who opened hearth in downtown Sacramento on April 3. He was taken into custody at an house complex, the Sacramento Police Division stated in a press release Saturday night time.
“Las Vegas Metro Police Department labored with our detectives for weeks in an effort to locate Payton,” the statement stated.
It wasn’t known Sunday if Payton has an attorney who could speak on his behalf.
Payton and two others, brothers Smiley Martin and Dandrae Martin, had been charged this month with murder in the slayings, in addition to weapons offenses.
Investigators offered no motive but stated in court docket paperwork that Smiley Martin and his companions recorded a web based video hours earlier than the taking pictures, flashing guns and talking trash from a location in rival gang territory. In it, they state their plans to go to the downtown space with the intent of opening hearth.
