A fifth grade scholar in Florida was arrested over the weekend and charged with sending a textual content message threatening to carry out a mass capturing, authorities stated.

In a press release Saturday, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office mentioned it had learned earlier that day of a "threatening textual content message" despatched by a scholar at an elementary college.

It said its local faculty threat enforcement staff was immediately notified and started investigating. The ten-year-old boy was interviewed and charged later with "making a written risk to conduct a mass capturing," the sheriff's office mentioned.

In video shared by authorities, the boy might be seen being led into a police car.

“This scholar’s conduct is sickening, especially after the recent tragedy in Uvalde, Texas,” Lee County Sheriff Carmine Marceno said in an announcement, noting that the risk got here just days after the lethal college capturing at Robb Elementary College left 19 students and two academics dead.

“Proper now isn't the time to behave like a bit of delinquent. It’s not funny,” he stated. “This youngster made a pretend threat, and now he’s experiencing real penalties.”

Marceno stated his crew “didn’t hesitate one second...NOT ONE SECOND,” to analyze the incident.
