Apple has discontinued the iPod, 20 years after it was released.

The US tech big mentioned its iconic music participant has been changed by other gadgets, making the iPod redundant.

Greg Joswiak, Apple's senior vice-president of worldwide advertising and marketing, mentioned: "Today, the spirit of iPod lives on.

"We have integrated an unimaginable music experience throughout all of our products, from the iPhone to the Apple Watch to HomePod mini, and throughout Mac, iPad, and Apple TV.

"And Apple Music delivers industry-leading sound quality with assist for spatial audio - there's no higher approach to take pleasure in, discover, and expertise music."

In October 2001, Steve Jobs debuted the original iPod and it was the primary MP3 player that could maintain 1,000 songs and had a 10-hour battery life.

"With iPod, Apple has invented a complete new class of digital music participant that permits you to put your complete music assortment in your pocket and hearken to it wherever you go," he mentioned on the time.

"With iPod, listening to music will never be the identical once more."
