BERKELEY, Calif. - A 16-year-old boy was arrested after recruiting others to participate in a mass faculty taking pictures that would have included a bombing at Berkeley High School, police say. 

The teenager was arrested Monday, when he turned himself in to police, Berkeley Police Department mentioned in a press release. Monday was Memorial Day and there was no school that day. 

The boy was arrested on suspicion of possessing damaging gadget materials and threatening to commit a criminal offense which can end in dying or nice bodily injury.

Police said they acquired a tip on Saturday that the boy was recruiting others in plans of a shooting that included explosives. Following the tip, police obtained and executed a search warrant for a residence. 

Police didn't say if the teenager was a pupil at Berkeley Excessive School.

Upon executing the search warrant, police stated they found components to explosives and assault rifles, several knives, and digital objects that might be used to create extra weapons. 

At that time, a warrant was obtained for the teenager's arrest.

"Faculty security stays a high precedence for the department," police said in a press release. 

Particulars on whom the teen was attempting to recruit were not disclosed. Police stated this case remains beneath investigation. 

Berkeley Unified Supt. Brent Stephens told the college's neighborhood that the district was in close contact with police throughout this investigation. 

After police confiscated the teen's weapon elements, the district relied on police expertise to evaluate any potential ongoing danger to its colleges. The district communicated with police on the coed's whereabouts. 

"As added precautions throughout this period, we alerted our administrative and safety employees about this investigation and, as is our normal practice, maintained close contact with our BPD College Resource Officer on the Berkeley Excessive College campus," Stephens wrote. "Throughout the investigation interval, we were assured that this particular person did not pose a right away threat to the Berkeley High Faculty neighborhood."

The district is conducting their very own investigation on this matter. 

The district might pursue disciplinary motion in opposition to the scholar. 

In addition, a town corridor meeting titled: ' Discuss to Children About School Violence' supplied by Alameda County Office of Education is scheduled for Wednesday at 6 p.m.
